Allergy Clinic

The allergy clinic in Convent Street Clinic is run by Dr. Anne McKiernan.

 

Dr. McKiernan is from Cork and attended Trinity College Dublin to study Human Nutrition and Dietetics. She is a registered dietitian with Coru. She then completed a course in Sports Nutrition and worked with sports teams at a national and international level. She worked for 2 years as a hospital based dietitan and then returned to Trinity College to study medicine.

 

Her junior doctor years were spent in a number of hospitals in Dublin and Cork. She completed the Cork GP scheme in 2015 and worked as a GP full time until 2017 when she joined Professor Jonathon Hourihane in the Paediatric Allergy Clinical and Research team in CUH. As part of this she was involved in ground breaking research into food allergies, in particular milk and peanut. She was a member of the international peanut allergy research team and was at conferences worldwide representing her team in CUH.

She had her own allergy clinic in the paediatric allergy service in CUH from 2017-2024 and has worked as a primary care allergy doctor since 2019
She is also a lecturer in the MSc Dietetics  in UCC.

Seasonal allergies (hay fever) , allergic rhinitis, food allergies, eczema and spontaneous idiopathic urticaria are among the conditions that can be seen in the clinic. 

Please note, this is a private service provided by the clinic and it is not covered under the medical card or DVC scheme.

This service is also available to those who are not patients of Convent Street Clinic.
